Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Moonstone application ("Moonstone," "we," "us," or "our"), a web-based service that provides analytics and insights for Spotify playlists and music libraries.
By accessing or using Moonstone, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the Terms, you may not access or use our service.
Moonstone is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Spotify. We access Spotify data through their official API in accordance with their Developer Terms of Service.
Service Description
Moonstone is a service that allows users to visualize and analyze Spotify playlists and music libraries. Our features include:
- Playlist insights with activity charts, interactive heatmaps, and artist/genre analytics
- Liked Songs analytics for users who authorize access to their Spotify accounts
- User profile galleries displaying aggregated statistics across a user's public playlists
- Playlist discovery features to explore curated content
Beta Status
Moonstone is currently in a testing/beta phase. Features, functionality, and these Terms may change as we continue to develop the service. We may implement limitations on certain features to maintain performance and reliability.
Service Availability
We strive to provide a reliable service, but Moonstone is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the service will be available at all times or that it will be error-free. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate the service at any time for maintenance, updates, or for any other reason.
Spotify Accounts & Access
To use certain features of Moonstone, you need to authorize access to your Spotify account. By doing so, you grant Moonstone permission to access your Spotify profile information, playlists, and music library according to the access permissions you approve.
Authorization & Permissions
When you authorize Moonstone to access your Spotify account:
- We access your data through Spotify's official API using OAuth authentication
- We request only the permissions necessary to provide our service
- You can revoke access at any time through your Spotify account settings
- We don't store your Spotify password
Your Responsibility
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Spotify account. Moonstone is not responsible for any unauthorized access to your Spotify account that is not directly caused by our actions.
Use Limitations & Restrictions
While using our service, you agree not to:
Use any automated systems, bots, scrapers, or other software to access, copy, or extract data from Moonstone
Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise try to extract the source code of our service
Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with security-related features of Moonstone
Use Moonstone in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our servers or networks
Use the service to collect or harvest personal information about other users
Use our service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any local, state, national, or international law
Impersonate or attempt to impersonate Moonstone, a Moonstone employee, another user, or any other person or entity
Technical Limitations
To ensure service reliability and performance, we implement certain technical limitations:
- Playlist analysis may be limited to a certain number of tracks per playlist
- User profile galleries may have limits on the number of playlists or total tracks analyzed
- Rate limits may apply to certain API requests and features
These limitations help us maintain service quality for all users and may change over time as we optimize our platform. We will always inform you when a limitation affects your analysis results.
User Submissions
You may have the opportunity to submit playlists for features, provide feedback, or otherwise communicate with us. For any content you submit, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, and fully sublicensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, and display such content throughout the world in any media.
Responsibility for Submissions
You are solely responsible for any content you submit. By submitting content, you represent and warrant that:
- You own or control all rights to the content you submit
- All content is accurate and not misleading
- Use of the content does not violate these Terms or any applicable laws
- The content does not contain any harmful, offensive, or inappropriate material
Prohibited Content
We prohibit submissions that:
- Contain hateful, defamatory, or discriminatory content
- Promote illegal activities or violate intellectual property rights
- Include personal or private information about individuals
- Contain malware, spam, or commercial solicitations
- Violate Spotify's terms of service
We reserve the right to remove any submitted content at our sole discretion.
Fees & Payment
Currently Free
Moonstone is currently provided free of charge during our testing phase. We may introduce premium features or subscription plans in the future based on usage patterns and service costs.
Future Pricing
If we implement paid services in the future:
- We will provide clear notice about pricing changes
- Basic functionality may remain free, with premium features requiring payment
- You will always have the choice whether to upgrade to paid features
- We may offer different tiers of service with varying capabilities and limits
Any future payment terms, refund policies, and subscription details will be provided before you make any purchase and will become part of these Terms of Service at that time.
Disclaimers & Limitations

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. MOONSTONE AND ITS SUPPLIERS EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
MOONSTONE DOES NOT WARRANT THAT (i) THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS, (ii) THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, (iii) THE RESULTS THAT MAY BE OBTAINED FROM THE USE OF THE SERVICE WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE, OR (iv) THE QUALITY OF ANY PRODUCTS, SERVICES, INFORMATION, OR OTHER MATERIAL PURCHASED OR OBTAINED BY YOU THROUGH THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MOONSTONE, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, THAT RESULT FROM THE USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THIS SERVICE.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL MOONSTONE BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE, LOSS OR INJURY RESULTING FROM HACKING, TAMPERING OR OTHER UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS OR USE OF THE SERVICE OR YOUR ACCOUNT OR THE INFORMATION CONTAINED THEREIN.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Moonstone and its licensors, and their employees, contractors, agents, officers and directors, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees), resulting from or arising out of (i) your use and access of the Service, or (ii) a breach of these Terms.
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will make reasonable efforts to provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, please stop using the Service.
